Advanced Materials for Electrical Engineering Lab

Advanced Materials for Electrical Engineering (AMEE) Lab is a research laboratory within the UPB research center CAMPUS. The main research area of the AMEE Lab is in line with the European objectives in the field of materials, consisting of characterization, modeling and designing new materials for electrical, electronic and power engineering applications, in agreement with the strategy EUROPE 2020 for an intelligent and sustainable economical growth. In order to reach these general objectives, the AMEE team includes researchers from the Electrical Engineering Faculty, with relevant expertise and results obtained in the frame of national and international research projects, able to be involved and to bring contributions to the advanced research topics envisaged for 2014-2020 according to the Horizon 2020 programme.

Domains of activity

Studying of electric charge dynamics in dielectrics (polymers, nanodielectrics, etc) by dielectric spectroscopy
Influence of the environment factors on the electric and magnetic properties of the materials
Development of techniques for emphasizing the defects in electrical insulations and magnetic materials
Analysis of the resistance of polymer based insulating materials at different stresses (electrical, thermal, etc)
Lifetime estimation of the advanced materials for the insulating systems
Development of models for studying the electric/magnetic field distribution in advanced materials
Molecular modeling of advanced materials aiming to the understanding of the behavior and the prediction of their electrical/magnetic properties and their variation with electromagnetic field frequency
Development of methods for designing advanced materials with properties tailored for electrical engineering applications
